BEVERLY HILLS , CALIF. July 20, 2004 Storage World Conference (SWC) today announced that its record-setting speaker program and sold-out exhibits drew an audience of over 1300 attendees, including a high-quality audience of  Fortune 1000 storage end users and decision makers. The event was held June 28 through July 1, 2004 , at the Long Beach Convention Ce nter in Long Beach , Calif. The event was co-located with the Annual Summit of the Association of Storage Networking Professionals (ASNP), an end user organization of over 1600 members with 27 chapters worldwide.


In all, the SWC 2004 program included over 150 speakers, featuring 4 keynotes and participation by panelists and presenters from a wide variety of networked storage disciplines. The “ASNP End User Perspective Series” was comprised of several Fortune 500 case studies, while the program’s cornerstone session, “End-users’ Storage Networking Needs List, Firsthand Insight” covered critical issues facing users today.

The 2004 conference also featured a revamped Most Valuable Product Awards Program, co-presented by InfoStor Magazine and the ASNP, at the awards gala held Wednesday, June 30. It is the first industry program in which award winners are selected by storage networking end users. Winners in the six categories include: Backup Hardware – StorageTek’s L700e Tape Library; Compliance and Retention – EMC’s Centera; Data Protection Software – VERITAS’ NetBackup; Disk Subsystems – a two-way tie by EMC’s Symmetrix DMX and Hitachi Data Systems’ Freedom Storage Lightning 9980V; Management Software – HP’s OpenView Storage Area Manager; and Network Equipment – Cisco Systems’ MDS 9509 Director.
